IEC 60870-5-104 information objects

Hi, in the latest firmware release support for IEC 60870-5-104 server has been added. Is it possible to configure custom values for spontaneous and cyclic information objects? If not, can we expect this functionality anytime soon?

I don’t own a Teltonika device yet, so I cannot explore the UI. However, in the following documentation page only device’s details are listed among available information objects for this protocol (in general settings options table):

Hello,

At this moment, since this is a very new functionality, your aforementioned custom values are not something that is currently supported by the device. Regarding the currently available values, you are correct - you are able to get device details only at the moment, however, I’ll get further clarification from our R&D about this.

I can create this as a suggestion for our R&D so they would consider implementing this in future firmware updates.

Regards,
M.

Any news from the R&D team?

Hi there,

None as of yet, I’ll keep you updated.

Hi, @dvi ,

Some clarifications are needed for our R&D team:

  1. How does the client expect to input the data into these custom Information Objects? Is it via scripting or another method?
  2. Is the client looking for a converter/gateway feature? For example, mapping Modbus data directly to IEC 104/101 Information Objects?

M.

Hi,

  1. Any method would work really, what matters is being able to send something more than Teltonika device metrics.
  2. Yes, exactly. Protocol conversion is what I’m looking for. Could be Modbus, MQTT, HTTP.

Integrating IEC 60870 server as Data to Server output would solve everything. In changelogs I see IEC 60870 client was added as input, but not IEC 60870 server as output.

But this is just a suggestion that first came to mind, what I wrote in previous message is more important.

I plan on ordering a few Teltonika devices soon, unless the IEC feature is only planned for sending your device metrics, then I may reconsider. I would be willing to test some unreleased firmware version as well, if there’s already something.

Hi there,

After further clarifications with R&D, a feature for this is planned within the upcoming firmware versions. I can’t, unfortunately, give you an exact firmware date/release version with which this will be coming out, but this is planned.

M.
