Hi Everyone
How can I set up a VPN on the RUT950? I want to connect to the router from anywhere to access my devices connected to it. I’m confused about the terms ‘client’ and ‘server’. Can you please provide a step-by-step guide
Thanks
Hey,
Firstly make sure that your router will have a public IP, by which it will be possible to access the router. If you do not have that you can refer to RMS VPN, ZeroTier, Tailscale(though I doubt RUT950 will be able to have it as it takes more memory).
In this case server will be your router and the client will be the device from which you will want to access the devices in your router’s subnet. Do not forget to provide “Push option” where you will write your router’s subnet and the netmask. By default it would look like this “route 192.168.1.0 255.255.255.0”, here you can refer to the guide for step-by-step setup: OpenVPN configuration examples - Teltonika Networks Wiki
Connecting to the office network remotely from your home via VPN (OpenVPN) - Teltonika Networks Wiki

Thanks for your reply. Yes, my router has a public IP. I wasn’t sure if the router should be the server or client. I can tell now it is the server then devices which I will use will be clients. I will check the examples you provided.
Hello,
For OpenVPN 1 public IP is enough!
It’s better to use the router with the Public IP as a “server” and other one as a client!
With this way, you won’t need 2 Public IP, it will be much efficient!
Please go through the links provided and let me know if you face with any issue while configuring the device!
We will support!
Kind Regards,
Caner
