How to interpret SINR on Calyx EBD021

Hello,

I am using a Calyx EBD021 on a Raspberry Pi to provide cellular connectivity to my application.

I am reading out cellular network information using the AT^CELLINFO=1 or AT+MENG="servingcell" command.

How should I interpret the reported SINR value? According to the AT manual page 205 it should report a numerical value in dB between -20 .. 30 dB.

If I run the commands the reported SINR is 130 .. 135. Do I need to run an additional conversion?

Thanks in advance,

Lieven.

Hello Lieven,

Thank you for contacting us.

Since this question is not related to Teltonika telematics devices, unfortunately, we are unable to provide official support on this matter.

However, based on the reported value range, it appears that the SINR value may need to be converted using the following formula:

SINR dB = (reported SINR value / 5) - 20

For example, a reported value of 130–135 would correspond to approximately 6–7 dB.

Thanks, and best regards,
Imran S.

Hello Imran,

thanks you a lot for your reply, this helps me further.

Side question regarding your statement:

Since this question is not related to Teltonika devices

Can you please explain what you mean with that? Is there no official support for the Calyx EBD021 from Teltonika? This is a module that Teltonika is producing if I’m not mistaken?
It would be interesting to know as we are considering to use this module in a production system and if there is not official support for the module then I think we need to reconsider this decision.

Best regards,

Lieven.

Good Day,

Apologies for the confusion.

I mean that this question is not related to Teltonika Telematics devices but rather related to the networks devices. You can post your query in the separate Networks group forum.

Thank you for your understanding.
