How to enable passthrough mode

Hi!

I use a Teltonika RUTM30 which is connected to a Unifi Cloud Gateway Fiber.
I try to set the device to passthrough mode, but get an error saying:
”Configuration could not be saved. Some fields in “General Settings” are invalid".

Screenshots here:

Any idea what I need to change?

Thanks you!

Hello,

Could you kindly confirm which firmware version is currently installed on your RUTM30?

Best regards,

I am not at home at the moment, but I updated my RUTM30 to the latest (stable) firmware version this Saturday.

Hope this helps.

Greetings, @AnNaTC ,

Thank you for the follow up,

To begin configuring Passthrough mode:

  • Make sure that WAN failover is turned off and mobile is set as main WAN in the Network → WAN page.
  • Make sure that DHCP server is enabled on menu Network → LAN.
  • Then in the Network → WANInterfaces:MOB1S1A1 page select Mode: Passthrough in the mobile configuration section. You will then see an additional configuration field for entering a MAC address appear. Enter your PC network interface MAC address, use colons to separate digit groups. In windows you can find your interface’s MAC address by typing this command in CMD: getmac /v /fo list
  • Set your PC to obtain IP address automatically. Go to the Ethernet Settings → Change adapter options → Ethernet NIC properties → Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4) → Obtain an IP address automatically.
  • Reboot RUT device.
  • PC whose MAC address was set in Passthrough settings, should get routers WAN IP address. All other devices connected to LAN port, will get LAN pool IP address and should be able to access internet too.

Please try to reproduce these steps and let me know how it goes.

Kind regards,
V.

This is what I tried before; does not work at all.

Here the screenshot showing that WAN failover is off:

Here that DHCP is on:

Here the error after having switched to passthrough and specified the MAC address of my Unifi Cloud Gateway:

I am using firmware version: RUTM_R_00.07.18.3

To be honest this is super annoying :frowning:

Hello,

For troubleshooting purposes, we will require more sensitive information from your end, such as the troubleshoot file, which may contain passwords, public IP addresses, serial numbers, and such. To avoid leaking this information, we have sent you a form to fill out, which you will receive in your e-mail inbox that you have registered your account with in the forums. In the Ticket ID field of the form, please enter the ID of this thread, which is 16521.

Thank you,

V.

I am really losing my patience here… waiting now for >1 week without any progress in doing something so simple than enabling passthrough mode.

With respect to your last message I do not get what you want me to do - you just say “more information such as…” - “such as” is not very helpful… what exactly do you need?
The mail you sent me does also not tell what exactly you want me to provide.

Is there any specific data you want me to put into the description of the ticket?
What exactly do you need - this is not stated anywhere at all?
And how do you want me to extract that data?
And how do you want me to submit that data; the form you sent me does not allow me to attach files - there is only a field for providing a “description”?
This message here is lacking any detail on what you want me to do…

Actually I am close to sending the device back as things are simply not working as expected.

Hello,

Further instructions will be provided in the email that I sent you. Once we receive the required information we will be able to troubleshoot further.

Thank you for your patience and understanding.

Best wishes.
V.

Ah, got it

Thank you.
