How to create a Point-to-Multipoint network with RUTX10

Hi…

I have 5 routers Teltonika RUTX10 and I need to set them to create a Point-to-multipoint network where one of the routers will be the access point and the others will be the clients. Can anybody help me with this configuration?

Hello,

For the router that should act as an access point, in the WebUI go to Network → Wireless → SSIDs. You should have one SSID in ‘Access Point’ mode, so you will be able to connect to its WiFi network.

For other RUTX10 routers, in the same section of the WebUI, scan the 2.4GHz or 5GHz, select the name of the access point you just created, and connect to it. All routers connected to the access point should be in ‘Client’ mode.

thank you very much…

i did this settings on the routers, and I saw the connection between then, but I couldn’t ping the client through the access point.
Is there any additional configuration to set that allow the ping to the client through the access point?

Hello,

To ping a device that is a client from a device that is acting as an access point, you should create a route in the WebUI on the device acting as the access point. Follow these steps:

  1. Go to Network → Routing → Static Routes.
  2. Set the Interface to ‘lan’.
  3. Enter the Target as the client router network IP (e.g., 192.168.2.0).
  4. Enter the Netmask as the client router network netmask (e.g., 255.255.255.0).
  5. Set the IPv4-Gateway to the client router IP assigned by the access point (e.g., if the access point network is 192.168.1.0, the client might get an IP like 192.168.1.240).

Hello,

I followed your suggestions exactly, but I still haven’t had any success setting up the network. I can see the connection on both radios, but they can’t ping each other. Are there any parameters that need to be adjusted, or any other configurations I should try?

Hello,

I have tested it, and everything is working fine for me, so there might be a mistake in the configuration or issue in the firmware version.

Could you please confirm that all your RUTX10 devices are using the latest RUTX_R_00.07.07.1 firmware version? If not, I highly recommend upgrading them all. You can download the newest firmware version here.
