I have two 2x2 antenna to connect to my RUTX50 rather than one 4x4 antenna.
The slightly weaker antenna is roof mounted on my motorhome and the slightly stronger antenna is inside my motorhome. (Panorama 2x2 is roof mounted and a Poynting MIMO 3-12 is inside the motorhome)
Which is the best way to connect the cables to the RUTX50? The roof mounted antenna to ports 1&2 or 1&4 or something very different.
I feel I haven’t got the set up right as my 5G ZTE dongle with inbuilt antenna delivers faster download and upload speeds than my RUTX50 with 2 external antenna.
Or am I better off just buying a single 4x4 antenna to get better performance?
For optimal performance, the Poynting MIMO 3-12 antenna should be connected to the 1 & 4 mobile SMA connectors on your RUTX50, while the Panorama 2x2 antenna should be connected to the middle connectors (2 & 3).
Additionally, for testing purposes, you might want to check whether mounting the Poynting MIMO 3-12 antenna outside improves performance. In general, the higher gain (dBi) antenna should be connected to the 1 & 4 connectors for the best results.
Purchasing a single 4x4 antenna would be a pricier option but could potentially improve performance, as it ensures optimal signal reception and distribution across all four connectors.
Let me know if you need further assistance or have any additional questions.
I’ve done as you said and it has increased speed but mostly upload speed.
Do you think replacing the 2x2 and 2 bunny ears with a dedicated roof mounted 4x4 such as a Poynting MIMO 3 17 would further increase download/upload speeds in rural areas (lower frequencies). PS - UK based and travel in European network frequencies.
