How to block youtube,Facebook etc. on Teltonika RUT200

Dear Teltonika Support Team,

I hope you are doing well.
I am facing an issue with my Teltonika RUT200 router. I need to block websites such as YouTube, Facebook, TikTok, and other video-streaming or social media platforms for my network users. However, I am unable to find any option in the router’s Web Filter, Firewall, or Hotspot settings that can successfully block these websites.

Even after applying IP filters and domain filters, the websites still open. It seems the RUT200 does not provide full website blocking or content filtering options.

Kindly guide me on how I can block these websites on the RUT200, or confirm if it is not possible on this model. If RMS or any additional package is required, please let me know.

Your quick assistance will be highly appreciated.

Hi there!

We actually have a guide for troubleshooting the Web Filter. If it ends up not working as expected, the link can be found here: Web Filter Troubleshooting - Teltonika Networks Wiki

Kindly let me know if this helps,
M.

On RUT200 devices, basic IP or domain filtering is often not sufficient for blocking platforms like YouTube, Facebook, or TikTok because these services use dynamic IP ranges, CDNs, HTTPS, and DNS-based resolution. As a result, simple firewall or static domain rules can be bypassed easily. More effective approaches usually include:

  • DNS-based filtering (using a filtered DNS provider or DNS over HTTPS blocking)

  • Installing additional packages like adblock or dnsmasq rules (if supported on the firmware)

  • Using an external content-filtering gateway or proxy

It’s also worth noting that many video platforms use encrypted traffic and adaptive streaming, which makes full blocking at the router level more complex. Similar challenges are seen on client devices when dealing with modified media applications (such as YouTube-based apps like Vanced APK), where blocking requires DNS or certificate-level controls rather than simple IP rules.

If advanced filtering is required, upgrading to a model that supports deeper packet inspection or using an external filtering solution may be the most reliable option.
