How to allow VPN to LAN routing on RUT240?

Hi,

I’ve successfully set up an OpenVPN client connection on my RUT240 (I can reach the router’s WebUI through the VPN by LTE WAN and the tunnel shows Connected).
However, I’m struggling to get traffic from the VPN network (10.8.0.x) to reach devices on the LAN (192.168.1.x).

I’ve tried both the new and the legacy firmware versions, but the issue is identical on both.

What I’ve already done:

  • OpenVPN connection works ((client connects and pings the server)

  • RUT240 WebUI reachable over VPN tunnel

The goal:
Allow traffic from the VPN (server → client) to access a LAN device behind the RUT240.

Question:
What are the correct and required firewall + routing settings on a RUT240 to fully allow VPN-to-LAN access? Is there an official recommended setup for this scenario?

Any guidance or working examples would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Hi…

Have you check the routes, between both devices?

Have you check for NAT option?

Hi,
Thanks, but routes look good. NAT / Masquerading is ON.

Any suggestions for the right Zone settings and Firewall rules for reaching the LAN?
10.8.0.x → 192.168.1.x

so…

You are doing opvn to lan and your NAT is enable!?

You should not use NAT to be able to access device at your lan, from one ovpn to another ovpn and you must check route between both devices.

I was a routing problem indeed. Thanks again for your input!
