GPSd daemon on RUT956

Hi I am wondering if it is possible to compile GPSd so that the 956 can act as a GPSd server/daemon for some clients. My only option in the clients is GPSd or serial COMPorts, so I want to try GPSd if possibie.

Can this be done with the SDK please ?

Hello,

Our devices support the collection of NMEA sentences and the ability to forward GPS data to a server. GPS data can be sent to an HTTP/HTTPS server, as well as to TAVL or AVL platforms.
For more information about GPS features and configuration, please refer to our wiki page: https://wiki.teltonika-networks.com/view/RUT956_GPS

Please let me know if you have any further questions or need assistance.

Best regards,

Hiya and thanks for answering, yes I know it does all that.
When I SSH’d to the 956 I can see that GPSd is there via ps

Is there some way I can get GPSd to start up as normal GPSd i.e. running on port 2947 ?

see gpsd(8)

I do not want to forward to another server, I want GPSd to act as a gpsd service on port 2947. This is the default for GPSd so I am wondering why it does not work
I am happy to configure GPSd but it should be doing this out of the box as that is the default config for GPSd

if this is not possible like this can you give me a steer to building GPSd via the SDK so I can run it that way ? can I add the openwrt GPSd and use that instead ?

many thanks

hi is there any response to this, it’s a real problem for us

Hello,

Apologies for the delay. A ticket is created for our RnD team regarding your question and I am still waiting for their response. Once I receive feedback from them, I will let you know.

We appreciate your understanding and patience.

Best regards,

Hello,

Unfortunately, the RUT956 cannot function as you described.

Regarding the SDK, it cannot be modified directly, but you can add any package (for which you have the source code) to the SDK and try compiling it yourself.

We appreciate your understanding.
