GPS tracking of sailing boats with TMT250

Hi,
I was wondering if the TMT250 could be configured to send a GPS fix each second to a mqtt broker via GSM?
Best, Ben

You’d probably need some sort of teltonika to MQTT gateway. I use traccar to receive Teltonika into my system https://puretrack.io/

It looks like they added the ability for Traccar to forward to MQTT: sending position data to an MQTT broker - Traccar
So that’s an option.

What are you wanting to do? You might like to look at my website PureTrack for boat tracking, I track a number of boats and it’s easy to add Teltonika trackers to it. You can see them in action here:
https://puretrack.io/?l=-36.85610,175.77637&z=12.2&k=X-e6e8s2
Add them here: PureTrack
set server domain to track.puretrack.io
port 5027 TCP

Hope that helps

Hello Bena
Good day!

Unfortunately, the TMT250 doesn’t support MQTT, however other trackers support MQTT (AWS/Azur)
and to make it successful, as the ipearx comment, you need to connect to a breaker/translater, to change the data type from TCP to MQTT

you can use flespi or open remote
find the supported platform here in the link Fleet Management platforms - Teltonika Telematics Wiki

Thank you for your quick response!
Having another gatway in the middle, question is how much latency I get on the data. I want to use a GPS tracker to send a position data into a regatta racing programm (Regatta Hero Mapviewer).
Programm “Regatta Hero” requires real time data, one GPS data point each second! I was wondering if TMT250 could do that? Just came across that device for beeing IP67 and having an acceptable price. But I never worked with the software, so do not know what is possible here and what hidden costs are behind when using the software toolchain.

Hello

yes, TMT250 can send data every 1sec, however, this is a very short period and we don’t recommend it,

Hi @ipearx,
that is a nice mapviewer you built!
We would like to track our regatta boats in a race and are wondering if teltonika devices could do the job. I guess, you know all the trackers out there!? Would you have some time for a chat or call?

Hi @laith.sa,
What is the problem, why you do not recomend it? Battery life? In our use case a battery life of 5-10 hours would be fine. We can recharge after each racing day.

yeah, if for racing, then the TMT250 is the best one with the Race feature

I’m going to add my bicycle to your Puretrack -
