Could somebody confirm if the “GPS” (Patch) antenna as supplied with GPS capable devices is only a GPS L1 type (as such) or supports L1 equiv across Galileo, Glonass and BeiDou?
Hello,
GPS-capable devices are usually equipped with antennas and receivers that support multiple Global Navigation Satellite Systems (GNSS).
Patch antennas are typically designed to be broad enough to capture signals from multiple GNSS systems. This allows them to receive signals not only from GPS but also from GLONASS, Galileo, and BeiDou. But please also note that those different GNSS systems uses different frequencies. For example;
GPS L1 (1575.42 MHz)
GLONASS L1 (1602 MHz)
Galileo E1 (1575.42 MHz)
BeiDou B1 (1561.098 MHz)
I recommend to check data sheet of the every single component that you’re planning to use. To be sure on that!
For our devices you can find every single information from our wiki page.
For example you can refer this link for RUT956 device’s GPS capabilities: link
