Am i correct in thinking that the RUTX50 router will only notify me when there is a new stable firmware update by default moving forward from version 7.16.3 onward?
Yes, the notification only suggests updating the firmware to the newer stable firmware release, e.g.:
When the device is updated to the newest stable firmware release, this notification is NOT shown.
Meanwhile, from the “System → Firmware” menu, you can see both the latest and newest stable firmware versions, which you can download by clicking the button next to the firmware version:

Thank you so much to those that clarified this to be true. Knowing this means that i will no longer need to check for the next stable update myself. I can just sit back and wait to be notified.
