Hi all,
Wanted to ask if someone can direct me to some guides on how to configure this to allow only clients with the correct SSL installed is allowed to connect to Teltonika WiFi if this can be done ? if not maybe only allow client to use its 4/5G connections with correct SSL installed.
thanks in advance.
Hello,
Apologies for the delay. By default, standard WiFi security protocols like WPA2 or WPA3 don’t use SSL/TLS client certificates for authentication directly. The closest equivalent would be setting up WPA2-Enterprise (802.1X authentication) with EAP-TLS, which does utilize client certificates for authenticating devices. However, this setup requires an external RADIUS server (such as FreeRADIUS or a cloud-based service like IdBlender) and configuring your Teltonika router to use it for WiFi authentication.
You can find instructions for integrating an external RADIUS server with your Teltonika WiFi AP or Hotspot authentication here:
Regarding LTE/5G usage with SSL certificates — could you kindly clarify this part in a bit more detail? If you’re referring to securing data over mobile connections and only allowing clients with a valid certificate to establish a secure connection, this would typically be achieved using OpenVPN (or a similar VPN solution) with client certificates. Would you mind elaborating a little on your intended use case or scenario?
Best regards,
