Firewall custom rules failed to apply

Good day!

I’m using a RUT950 router and having some problems applying the custom firewall rules since the version 00.07.06 using the webUI. I have tried the same rules in previous versions using the webUI and it worked, but since then, even when addin something as simple as a commentary it fails to apply.

Is this a common problem?

I am having the same issues. It is not executing the custom firewall rules after restart. I am using RUT300 firmware version 07.04.3 and 07.06.3.

It seems to have a limit of lines that I can add to the custom rules text box. I have a set of rules I have been using in previous versions, but when I upgrade to the most recent (00.07.06 and forward) it does not allow me to add anything, not even a commentary like ## TCP. It just shows the error " Failed to save custom rules".

To better understand the issue you’re facing, please follow these steps:

  1. Open the Command Line Interface (CLI) on your router through System → Maintenance → CLI.
  2. Type the command: cat /etc/firewall.user and copy the output.
  3. Next, enter the command: echo "test" >> /etc/firewall.user.
  4. Finally, type: cat /etc/firewall.user and copy the output again.

By doing this, I’ll be able to determine if rules can be written at all or if the problem is specific to the WebUI. This information will help me assist you further.

Applying the rules via CLI is working. I did the process as determined and it worked. The problem is specific to the WebUI.
