Err Msg: "Failed to retrieve status" in Failover

Firmware version: RUTX_R_00.07.18.3
Firmware build date: 2025-10-28 09:16:14
Kernel version: 6.6.96

I get the message “Failed to retrieve status” whenever I enter Failover section. I don’t have failover activated. There is not even a button I could press for activating or deactivating. I also deleted all failover rules (there was one rule available before but the message also appeared when rule existed). I would also be happy if someone could tell me how to deactivate this message on command line. It’s just anying.

The device is a mesh node of a WLAN mesh. I don’t have the problem with the router node. Perhaps it is a zone/firewall issue because data has to retrievd over WLAN. If so, please tell me how to deactivate it in general. Don’t need failover.

Thx.

Greetings, Equilibrium,

Thank you for your question.

For troubleshooting purposes, I recommend starting by creating a full backup of your current configuration. Once that is done, please try updating the device to the latest available firmware to check whether the issue persists.

You can find the latest firmware for your specific device model by visiting our Wiki:

From there, select your device from the list, and then navigate to the Firmware Downloads section.

If the problem continues after updating, you may also try reflashing the firmware through the bootloader menu. The exact steps depend on your device model, but you can find the relevant instructions in the Device Recovery Options section on the same Wiki.

These steps will help determine whether the issue is firmware-related. If the behaviour remains unchanged, please let me know and we will proceed with deeper investigation.

Kind regards,
V.
