Email when a device goes offline and repeat emailing until online

Hello,

My goal is to receive an email when a device remains offline for example 1 hour. After that I want to receive an email for example every 1 day if the device is still offline.
How do I have to set this up? Is it maybe possible with multiple seperate Alerts & Automations?

Thanks in advance.

Best regards,

Well obviously the alerts are going to have to come from some form of additional monitoring system separate to the device/s as the device/s themselves are offline.

Something like RMS might be able to have some form of an alert system included?

Hi Mattk,

I tried it in RMS service with Alerts & Automations. But I can’t get it to work the way I want, as written in my previous post.

Hello,

Adding a specific “timer”, as you mention, 1 hour for example, will be a bit tricky, since there’s no such function. However, you may set up just an instant notification of when the device goes offline, like so:

Thanks MatasR,

This is exactly my problem, I want to have an email too every X time when the device is still offline.
Can I expect this feature in the future, or is there a workaround for now?

Hi there,

You could try setting up Device status instead, and play around with the Delay/Cooldown options to see what suits you best:

This should constantly send you e-mails, unless you set up a cooldownl.

Hi MatasR,

Thanks, I have 2 automations and it works fine now. One detect the status change and one is active when a device is still offline.

One question left, I have 2 devices and there are 5 email addresses who want to receive an email. 3 of the email addresses are the same for both devices. What is the easiest way to set this up?

Hi there,

I’ll register a suggestion for this, so you’re able to separate the e-mail addresses under one rule, and add multiple of them. As for now, you currently need to keep adding as many of the same actions, but each should have a different e-mail address.
