Having used an e-Sim adapter with another router, I was attracted to the X50 because of it’s built-in e-Sim functionality.
I have spent the past couple of hours trying to install a new Smarty E-Sim. I eventually managed to get it working but by a rather circuitous route. I wondered if there was a simpler method.
I first tried the QR Code method. I am using a MacBook so scanning the QR Code isn’t straightforward. A method I have used on my other e-Sim reader is to copy the QR Code to a jpg file however the X50 said it couldnt find a QR Code.
I therefore tried entering the activation code directly but the format that was sent to me by Smarty didnt seem to be in a compatible format. I tried various combinations that looked like the example that the X-50 said it needed but they were all rejected
I then thought that the data I needed was in the QR Code so I used an online QR Code decoder to extract the data string and pasted that into the box.
This time it worked and the e-Sim is now registered. However I cant help but think that there must be an easier method. Can anyone suggest a better way?
Thanks
Peter
