Does the RUTM54 Require a Secondary Internet Connection to Install an eSIM?

I’ve been successfully loading eSIMs onto my RUTM54 by temporarily connecting the router to a nearby Wi-Fi network. I have a few questions about the process and connection requirements:

  1. Is a second internet connection absolutely required to install an eSIM on the RUTM54?

  2. If a secondary connection is required:
    a. Can the eSIM being installed provide that connection itself?
    b. Can another SIM already active on the RUTM54 provide it?
    c. Can I use an Ethernet (WAN) connection to another modem or router instead?

I’m trying to understand exactly what the router needs to download or activate an eSIM profile and what counts as an acceptable “secondary” internet source.

Hi,

Yes second internet connection is required to download eSIM profile.

a) if you have already installed eSIM profile and it gives internet connection, then yes, you can use it to download another profile.

b) No, to install eSIM profile you need to switch to eSIM, so active SIM becomes eSIM instead of standard SIM.

c) Yes, you can use anything what provides internet connection to router to download eSIM profile.

Hello @esteban,

Kindly let me know whether the issue has been resolved or if you require any further assistance.
