I own three Teltonika products;… a RUT200, a RUT955 and a PR1KCO28 Combo LTE-WiFi-GPS antenna.
Some questions I need answers to…
I’m aware it’s possible to disable the mobile data connection of the routers but I can’t find a way to fully disable the mobile connection so that it doesn’t dial up a mobile connection at all. Is that possible and if so, how?
Can the PR1AS420 antenna be mounted flat to a vehicle roof and would it be suitably functional in such an orientation (I’m trying to avoid having to drill a hole in the roof of the intended vehicle, which a puck antenna would require)?
Is it possible to use just one of the two mobile antenna ports on the RUT200 and RUT955 and use just a SISO antenna on the main port? Would all channels still be available if only using the main antenna port and would a 50 Ohm terminating resistor be required on the un-used Aux port?
Lastly, would it be possible to use just one of the two mobile antenna cables of the PR1KCO28 puck antenna for SISO operation without causing damage to the antenna?
The most straightforward way would be to simply take out the SIM card from the device; no mobile connection will be established that way, but of course, I don’t believe that’s what you would want to do. Another option would be disabling the mobile interface under Network → WAN → and disabling “mob1s1a1” and “mob1s2a2” interfaces:
Would be careful with this, as the antenna has an IP50 rating, which means that it’s protected against dust, but not against moisture and such. The orientation doesn’t really matter, as it’s not a directional antenna. You can read more about IP ratings here: IP ratings and standards explained - Rainford Solutions
It is possible.
This is not limited to the antennas only, but if you are using what you’ve described, and there was, for example, a mobile band that is very barely reachable, then with the setup that you want, the device will most likely not connect to it at all. Regarding the terminating resistor, it’s not required, but is recommended. You can also read more about the Main and Aux connectors here: Mobile Main and AUX Antennas - Teltonika Networks Wiki
No damage should be caused, hard to imagine the exact reason of how it could be damaged at all. Worst case scenario - you’ll have worse speeds or signal strengths than you would with a standard setup.
