Is there a way, via config file edit, GUI, or other … ? to “permanently” disable the internal LTE modem of a RUTX11 ? I have a few sites where they no longer wished to have the LTE service charges so they have suspended the accounts. But, the modem dutifully tries to connect, causing a constant stream of log messages to my SIEM server (every 30 seconds):
Putting it in /etc/rc.local would be a solution to this, yes, since the file is run during system startup. At least in the time of writing this reply, there’s no option to disable the modem completely directly from the WebUI.
Alright, but this has an ugly side effect: when logging in to the WebUI, it flags this as an error condition (displays every time the “Overview” page is loaded actually):
I was looking for any options to disable these notifications, but unfortunately, couldn’t find any.
What if you were to disable instead the mobile interface under Network → WAN? I’ve tried this and took a look at the logs, and it looks like no error messages or any connection attempts are being made, weird how I didn’t think of this with my initial reply.
Unfortunately, that’s just how it’s going to be then. I don’t believe there’s a way to disable the modem messages, as the router is partially designed to be used with a mobile connection active.
Any chance a setting to disable those warning messages could be considered for a future update? The unit is a perfectly capable router device even without the cellular modem active… I can’t be the only one using it like this?
I’ll register a suggestion for the R&D team, I got you. So far, I haven’t had a lot of cases of clients asking for such features, but surely, if the amount of requests expands, it’ll get implemented sooner or later.
