DC-powered version of the SWM 19" switch series

I’d like to suggest a DC-powered variant of the SWM 28X-series.

The DIN-rail switches accept a wide DC input (typically 9–60 V), but they top out at 8–10 ports. The 19" SWM series gives 24+4 ports, but it’s AC-only. Anyone running a DC-powered rack — telecom/ISP sites on -48 V, solar and off-grid installations, industrial or mobile cabinets — runs out of options in your range as soon as they need more than ~10 ports.

In practice it means adding an inverter or a separate AC UPS just to feed a switch from a battery bank, which costs efficiency and adds a failure point in a system that is otherwise entirely DC.

Since the SWM presumably already has an internal AC/DC supply, my guess is that swapping it for a DC/DC module wouldn’t be a huge redesign. A wide input range would be ideal; even just a -48 V variant would cover a lot of installations. Dual DC inputs for redundancy would be a nice bonus.

Is this something you’d consider?

Greetings,

Apologies for the delayed response and thank you for the feedback.

I’ve passed your suggestion regarding a native DC version of the SWM series along to our R&D team.

Should you have any further questions, feel free to reach out!

Best Regards,
Martyna
