Data Limit Notification

We have a mixture of RUT’s. 951,955 &956

We wish to be notified by text when the data reaches a certain threshold using the “Data Limit” function in the WebUI.

All systems are running the latest firmware.

WebUI

  1. The first problem I am having is the “Reset Mobile Data Usage” function is not working on any of the systems.
    I have tested this a couple of days in a row now and it just continues to clock up without returning to 0 every day at the time selected.

  2. The second problem maybe related to the first. I also don’t receive the notification when I manually reset the data back to 0 and it goes over the threshold set.
    We have 9 routers, and I did receive the notification randomly once.

RMS
3. I have managed to set this up in the RMS and it sends me an email when it goes over the threshold however is there a way in the RMS to reset the data to 0?

Are you sure you want those values for Data Limit (set to 1 TB) and Warning threshold (set to 600 GB)? They are unusually high.

A single unit in those fields, equates to 1 MB.

Hi Mike,
Our system is a CCTV security system. We have set the 1TB because we don’t ever want the connection to stop hence why it’s set so high however we do want to get a notification on a daily basis if a system is consuming a lot of data.
We have observed that the Teltonika data count is nearly double our ISPs data count so again why our daily notification is set to 6gb.
As we are only setting this up, we will fine tune it however we need to get it working first before we can start doing that.

Please ensure your device is running the latest RutOS firmware 7.12.3 (for RUT955, the latest version is 7.06.17). Firmwares can be downloaded from the following links:

  1. Could you please clarify whether by “Reset Mobile Data Usage” you are referring to the “Clear limit” option in Network → Mobile → Limits in WebUI, or something else?
  • If it’s something else, please provide a screenshot of the relevant WebUI page.
  • I have tested the “Clear limit” and “Reset time” function on a device , and it appears to be working as expected.
  1. Have you configured any settings to notify you when data is reset to 0?
  • If yes, please share a screenshot of your configuration.
  • From the screenshot you provided, the warning should be sent when 600000 MB is reached.
  • I tested the Warning threshold function via WebUI by setting a 100 MB data limit and a 60 MB warning threshold. The function worked correctly.
  1. I also tested RMS Device Configuration → Mobile → Limits, and the system successfully:
  • Sent an SMS when the data usage reached the Warning threshold value
  • Reset the data usage counter to 0 at the specified time

Please let me know if you are still experiencing this issue. If so, kindly provide more details along with screenshots of your configurations.
