Connection to Windows RDP using OpenVPN and RMS Hub – without a public IP

Hello,
I have a customer with a RUT901 router and I need to connect to their PC using standard Windows Remote Desktop (RDP).
The PC is visible in RMS VPN Hub and I can add it to the route, but RDP connection does not work.

Has anyone faced a similar issue or can share the correct configuration steps?

Thanks in advance.

Hello,

Thank you for reaching out.

At first, could you confirm if the customer’s PC can be pinged from your end once the route has been added correctly? Also, please make sure that LAN masquerading is enabled on the RUT901 (found under the Network → Firewall → Zones page).

Furthermore, is the RDP port (3389) open on the RUT firewall? In other words, have you tried configuring a port forward from RMS VPN to that specific IP of the PC. For reference I leave a screenshot and configuration example for port forwarding:

Additionally, if possible, you can try using RMS Connect to add remote access directly to the PC, where RDP access to specific host(s) connected to RUT can be configured manually or automatically.

I hope this bring any of insights and help to your setup.

Best regards,
