Just got a used 955, logged in, sim is working flashing green, four green signal lights, but no lan connection to my bt home hub? It no experience here!
Hello,
Could you please confirm how the RUT955 is connected to the hub? The RUT955 should be connected via its LAN port to the WAN port of your BT Home Hub.
Additionally, could you provide the LAN IP of the RUT955? Please also check if there is no IP conflict between the devices. If there is a conflict, you can try changing the IP of the RUT955 or the hub to be in different subnets. For example, you can set the RUT955 to 192.168.1.1 and the hub to 192.168.2.1.
Does an LED light up when devices are connected via Ethernet?
Furthermore, does the laptop connected to the RUT955 LAN get the IP from the router’s DHCP pool?
Let me know if this helps or if further assistance is needed.
Best regards,
Hi Martyna
Got it working now but it is slow compared to the three router we used prior. wondered if the firmware needed updating, it is an old unit with internal sim slots, the current firmware is RUT955_R_00.03.832, when trying to download from the website it just churns with 404 not found, downloaded version RUT9 R 00.07.06.17 WEBUI.bin to a stick, tried to upload from this file, message was this version is older than the one currently on the 955!
I am just an old guy with a bit of commonsense but no computer speak! what do I do next?
Best regards
Mike
Hello @Mikepeace,
Current 03.832 firmware version is the first legacy version on RUT955. In your case, the upgrade process should follow these steps:
- Upgrade from 03.832 to the latest legacy version to RUT9XX_R_00.06.09.5 through WebUI.
- Once upgraded to 6.09.5, try uploading the newer 7.X.X or 7.6.17
.bin
file through the WebUI to see if the upgrade works.
If the upgrade to 7.6.17 still fails, you can try flashing it through the Bootloader menu. Instructions on how to access and use the Bootloader menu can be found here.
Let me know if you need any further assistance!
Best regards,
Hi Martynas
Well I managed to upgrade to 955_R_00.06.09.5 At which point despite the router having all the correct lights in all the correct places, and full 4 bars signal, I can connect to it with my phone but there is no internet on either wifi or LAN cable, switched back to my three router with the three sim, 120 down and 20 up immediately, I am lost!
Best regards
Mike.
Hello Mike,
At this stage, the first thing I’d suggest is flashing a later 7.X.X release firmware (preferably 7.6.17) through the Bootloader menu, as mentioned previously.
Additionally, can you confirm if the router has an active internet connection? For verification, try pinging 8.8.8.8 through System → Maintenance → Troubleshoot page Diagnostics section.
Kind regards,
