Connecting Teltonika Router via Wi-Fi to Network with Identical IP Range (192.168.1.0/24)

Hello!

I’m seeking advice on configuring my Teltonika x11 router to connect via Wi-Fi to an existing network that uses the 192.168.1.0/24 IP range.

Current Setup:

  • Teltonika Router: Configured with LAN IP 192.168.1.1/24.
  • Main Network: Also operates on the 192.168.1.0/24 subnet, with its own DHCP server.
  • Objective: Connect the Teltonika router to the main network via Wi-Fi, ensuring seamless communication between devices on both networks.

Challenges:

  • Both networks share the same IP range, raising concerns about IP conflicts.
  • I want to avoid reconfiguring the IP range of either network if possible.

Questions:

  1. Is it feasible to connect the Teltonika router to the main network via Wi-Fi under these conditions?
  2. What configurations are necessary to prevent IP conflicts and ensure proper routing?
  3. Are there best practices or recommended approaches for this scenario?

Any guidance or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you in advance!

Hi,

You might want to checkout Wireless Relay: https://wiki.teltonika-networks.com/view/Relayd_RutOS (FYI it is preinstalled on rutx11 so installation step can be ignored)

With this config your Teltonika router will not have its’ own dhcp server. Not sure if this is deal breaker for you.
