Connecting RUT241 to the internet

Hi,

I have a PLC controlling an implement on the back of a tractor. In order to connect our laptops to the PLC and communicate with it we have a RUT241 router. The RUT241 is physically connected to the PLC in the electrical cabinet, and we connect to the router via wifi on our laptops and thus communicate with the PLC.

Is it possible to also connect the RUT241 to the internet wirelessly via wifi at the same time?

I want to be able to connect to the RUT241 network on my laptop and be able to communicate with the PLC and then be able to turn my phone hotspot on or drive up to the workshop wifi network and have the RUT241 connect to the internet wirelessly whilst still providing a connection between the PLC and the laptop.

Thanks for the help.

Greetings, Tom1,

The RUT241 fully supports wireless client mode, so you can connect it to a mobile hotspot or any other WiFi network as its WAN source. To set this up, open the router’s WebUI and navigate to Network → Wireless → SSIDs. From there, click Scan 2.4 GHz. Once the scan completes, you’ll see all detected networks within range - select your desired network and enter the WiFi password. No additional settings are required; simply press Save & Apply, and the router should connect as a WiFi client.

I hope this helps! If you have any other questions, feel free to reach out.

Best regards,
V.
