Connecting point to point devices

Hello,
I have a RUTX12 Router in which I would like to configure the following functionality (don’t know if its possible and so far I have not yet been able to achieve it).

I have several devices connected to the router, most of them are cameras, computers, etc… and work fine, they are all connected via LAN or WiFi and are in the same subnet, some of them with DHCP and some of them with configured static IPs. So far there is no problem. However I want two connect two other devices which can only be connected via point to point, so if I connect device1 to computer directly it works fine, however I would like device1 to be connected to the router, and this last one to be configure in some kind of bridge/passthrough mode so I could connect via the router, while at the same time access the other devices in the subnet.
Is this possible somehow?

BR,

Andrés

Hi Andresolares,

Thank you for your query, and welcome to the Teltonika Community.

Regarding your question, could you please clarify which Point-to-Point devices you are trying to add to the network? By default, all LAN ports on the RUTX12 are bridged and belong to the 192.168.1.0/24 network. Are the Point-to-Point devices preconfigured with static IP addresses in the /30 or /31 subnets?

If they are, you can set up VLANs on the RUTX12 and assign one or more ports to a specific VLAN with a static configuration. For example, let’s take Port 2 on the RUTX12 and configure a static IP of 192.168.5.1/30, assuming Point-to-Point Device 1 is set to 192.168.5.2/30. This creates a static point-to-point link (Note: This can also be configured on the WAN port).

In terms of communication between VLANs, the RUTX12 would still maintain the LAN bridge network, consisting of LAN ports 1, 3, and 4 on the 192.168.1.0/24 network, while LAN port 2 would be configured with VLAN 192.168.5.0/30. Since VLANs are by default assigned to the same LAN Firewall zone, the Point-to-Point device with IP 192.168.5.2/30 would be able to communicate with devices in the 192.168.1.0/24 network, and vice versa.

Please let me know if this addresses your query.

Best regards,

Hello Keith,
I followed your suggestions and worked perfectly, however after a reset on the connected device, I have not yet been able to reproduce that behavior, I tried removing the configuration on the router and setting them again but with no success. I am pretty sure the router part is well configured and working fine, and the issue comes from the connected device.

Thank you very much for your assistance, it was very helpful.

Regards
