While I truly enjoy our RUTX11 in our campervan, I sometimes miss some control about how much mobile data our kids are allowed to download (and upload), i.e. some kind of data quota.
Currently, I can only set a limit for mobile data in total, irrespective of how much is used per connected Wifi device.
Is a setting per connected Wifi device (MAC address, which would have to be stable not “private”) possible somehow?
Teltonika devices are primarily designed for industrial use, so home user/family functions haven’t been a priority. However, we appreciate your suggestion for bandwidth monitoring for individual devices and will consider it for future updates and features.
For now, you can try using the QoS service, which can be installed from System → Package Manager. While it won’t provide granular control over each device, it will allow you to set limits on certain interfaces. For example, you can create a separate wireless AP assigned to a new LAN interface and set limits specifically for that interface.
Thank you very much, this will help for the time being.
If you added a per device control, many users could benefit from it. I am aware that more and more campers and also boat owners use Teltonika routers because of their robustness, which I can confirm. Our RUTX11 is installed under the roof of our motorhome, where it can get very hot in summer, but it just runs great.
