Connect rut955 to ubiquiti unifi with voucher

my club uses ubiquiti unifi for wifi access. we get a 10 digit code for either 1 day or 1 year of access.

wifi is based around our clubhouse, but it’s supposed to be strong throughout our facilities. i am situated near the end of our facilities, and the wifi signal is very weak.

i’d like to take my rut955 and use it as a bridge between the club’s wifi and my devices. i can place the rut955 in a secure, waterproof location, and it will be halfway between me and the lounge.

the big question is, how do i access the captive web portal unifi uses to validate the vouchers on the rut955, and have it automatically connect every time after?

i am not looking for a cellular solution. strictly wifi based. firmware is updated and current.

Hello,

For your desired setup, I recommend following a detailed relayd/bridge configuration example available in our wiki page here. Specifically, refer to the RUT2 section, which aligns with your requirements.

Additionally, here are the key steps you’ll need to take:

  1. Install the TravelMate package: Navigate to System → Package Manager, search for TravelMate, and install it.
  2. Enable “Redirect Captive Portal” on the Unifi SSID configuration in Network → Wireless settings.
  3. Important note: when configuring bridge between Unifi and RUT955 networks, you don’t need to disable the DHCP server and enable Relayd (as described in the wiki example) in this way, the end devices connected to RUT955 will have internet access.

After completing the setup, when you connect your end device to the RUT955 and attempt to access the internet, you should be redirected to the Unifi captive portal to validate your voucher.

I hope this helps! If you encounter any issues or need further assistance, feel free to reach out.

Best regards,
