Configuration RUT301

Hello,

I would like to set up a LAN-to-LAN VPN between three buildings so that I can communicate between different controllers as if I were on the same network.

The network ranges are different between each building.
In building 2, there is already a third-party VPN installed that I cannot remove. Can I add a VPN, or will it not be compatible?

Could you tell me if the topology diagram I have drawn up seems consistent?
Could you also advise me on the configuration to use for the routers?
If I understand correctly, I still need to connect the WAN port to the provider’s box and a LAN port to my PLC switch? I can’t use the “WAN like LAN” configuration?

Each building will be equipped with a Teltonika RUT301 router, and I plan to use Teltonika RMS for the VPN.

The equipment does not have a gateway configured at this time. Do I need to change this?

Thanks for your help!

Hello!

I’d like to know more details about the third-party VPN that you’ve mentioned. What kind of VPN is it?

I believe that your desired configuration should work without any issues with the use of RMS VPN. If you’ll need any help setting it up, do let me know.

A golden rule that I like to mention is - LAN port is to give, WAN port is to take. If you want to give internet, you connect the device to the LAN port, if you want to take an internet connection, you connect to the WAN port. "WAN as LAN’ will just turn the WAN port to act as a LAN port.

If the “equipment” you’re referring to is the PLCs, then it is advised to set up the gateway addresses, but before doing that, I would suggest setting up the RMS VPN Hub first.

Regards,
M.
