Close-proximity Airport Dual Deployment

Hi All,

I have a conundrum that I have been advised to post to here:

I have 2 x RUT241 routers deployed in close proximity, both broadcasting 3 x SSIDs that are identical. Currently the SSIDs are set to Access Point mode.

The issue I have is if I were to configure these routers to work in a Mesh Network, then one router would be the Mesh Node and the other the Mesh Gateway.

However as each router has one SIM we are worried about usage limits and so is there a way to occassionally change the Mesh Node router to the Mesh Gateway and vice versa to utilise both data limits?

On a side note, I assume the devices would connect to the router providing the strongest signal but would there be an issue with stability if both routers were broadcasting on the same channel for example.

I appreciate that there would be easier solutions by replacing routers etc but this is what I’m facing with no route for replacement currently.

Many thanks for your thoughts

Hi Vilius,

I don’t believe I have access to a helpdesk platform. Can I ask any updates or resolution to be sent directly to me email?

Many thanks,

W.
