Can't seem to get WiFi "bridge" to work

  1. What I would like to do.
Connect a cabled client to my current Wi-Fi network.

  2. How I try to solve it.
I would like to use a RUT140 in some kind of bridged mode to connect my cabled client to and then the RUT140 to the Wi-Fi network and trough if get a working connection on my cabled client.
On the Wi-Fi IP network with an IP from the central DHCP server.

  3. What I have done.
I have followed the guide on https://wiki.teltonika-networks.com/view/RUTOS_relay_/_Wi-Fi_extender_/_repeater_/_bridge_configuratiom. In the example I have followed the steps on the “RUT2” unit.

But it just does not work?

Is it even possible to make this configuration? What do I miss?

Hello,

Your setup for a Layer 2 bridge with your company’s network should be possible using WDS (Wireless Distribution System) as well.

If your company’s Wi-Fi supports WDS, you might consider configuring it by following the guidelines provided in the wiki example here::link: Wireless Distribution System (WDS)

Additionally, if that won’t be helpful, please check this :link: Relayd guide, as there are some important additional notes to check prior to the provided wiki guide you have followed.

Please try this approach and let me know how it goes or if you need further assistance.

Best regards,

We don’t have WDS on our corporate network.

I don’t see anything explaining it in a different way on https://wiki.teltonika-networks.com/view/Relayd_RutOS ?

I don’t think this device can do what I need it too.

ps. the animation describing how to switch from Basic to Advanced on your wiki is very disturbing when you try to concentrate and read on the site…

Hi…
Can you split the main network to small networks?
sample… you have x.x.x.0/24 and you going to split it in x.x.x.0/25 or x.x.x.0/26 ?

The RUT140 will do at WiFI wan side the gateway for the lan side.
The lan side of rut140 can be behind a NAT or the ip should be know by the company WiFi?

Yes, i could ofcourse build it like that with another VLAN or something like that but that is not the function I was looking for.

Hi, @Johan

Using " route mode " between WiFi WAN and LAN, works nice.

You need a help to build this network?
Please… update your draw with ip and network ip.
Thank you.
