I wish to use an RUTX50 as a backup internet connection to my broadband fibre.
Ive I got the RUTX50 working fine with a sim, and the data speed is superb.
However, I have struggled to get the RUTX50’s WAN to use my existing router as its primary method of internet access.
My existing router’s IP address is 192.168.1.1
I configured the RUTX50 to have a static IP address of 192.168.1.3.
I have tried setting up the WAN on the RUTX50 to have a static IP address of 192.168.1.4 and use the gateway address of 192.168.1.1 (my primary internet router address), but I can’t get the RUTX50 to direct any traffic through this WAN to the Internet.
It’s pretty simple to do, but I just can get it to work.
I have tested a similar setup on my side without encountering any issues. To help resolve the issue you’re facing, could you try enabling the DHCP protocol on the wan (wired) interface of your RUTX50 and see if the issue persists? This may allow the RUTX50 to correctly obtain the necessary gateway settings from your existing router.
Hi. I did solve it, because I wanted the WAN to be the primary Internet access i did not enable the Fallover setting, however when enabling this setting it started working.
