I’ve got a RUTX11 and RUTX9, the goal was to use them to give our devices internet connection when on remote sites using the mobile data as it’s internet connection.
This works fine, but I’d like to be able to join the WLAN when standing near the router to talk to the device that’s connected to it via an ethernet cable.
Is this possible with either of these RUTX’s, or do any of your other devices support WLAN and LAN connection to a device using mobile data for it’s internet conenction?
By default, the Wireless WiFi and LAN ports are in the same LAN. This means that if you are connected to the RUTX device via WiFi, you should be able to access any device connected to RUTX via an ethernet cable.
If you are unable to access devices connected via ethernet, there might be an issue with configuration changes on the RUTX device or the network topology itself.
It’s important to note that this applies to regular WiFi usage and not the Hotspot feature, which is intended for guests and uses a captive portal to separate the guest network from the main LAN for security reasons. If you have Hotspot configured, you will not be able to access the devices on the LAN.
So I’ve setup a new device (we’ve got quite a few rutx9’s and 11’s, this one is an 11), making no changes other than to the default other than to add the mobile sim to the WAN settings to connect to it.
I can now connect to the router via both Ethernet and wifi, but I can’t see a device on the ethernet from the one on the wifi, any ideas?
