Bandwidth Problems on RUT241 and OPENVPN

Hello, I had set up a RUT241 with an OPENVPN connection. So now if I do a speediest I only get ~5mbit/sec and the CPU load is constant at 100%. My FW version is 7.12.3. So my question is, is this a common and known problem? Is this a hardware limitation of the encryption speed of the CPU?

Sidenote: If i switch off the OPENVPN connection I got at least 100mbit/sec so it is not a general bandwidth problem.

Hi…

RUT200 don’t have a hardware to handle the ovpn criptografy, so… CPU need to do the job.
Also… the cpu do everything… WiFi, route, RutOS, etc…

This is the reason to have a limited throughput when using ovpn or any vpn that needs criptografy.

Some IT guys are using wireguard, because is a light vpn and works better in a small network devices.
