add nr5g and lte5g only mode, also nr5g-standalone mode.
i have TRB500 device, but i think this applies to almost all cellular devices.
device does not have nr/lte only mode. or disable umts3g altogether switch. umts is useless for me, even if it is available, i only want to use it in special cases. umts is not available in my area anymore. there is a frequency selection, but user have to pick one frequency band.
adding nr5g-standalone only is a good idea for the future, but it is not crucial in near term.
I think it is because these protocols are “stacked upon eachother”. Providers that offer different generations are initially connected on the lower generation and there they send directions to the client on where to find 5G.
Exclusive 5G is possible but rarely found. Does your provider have it?
Here I see only 5G (NSA) connections which means that at least 4G and 5G would have to be enabled.
not for umts3g, and it is no anyway. only exception is non-standalone mode, which requires lte as a basis, and can go nr bands.
so i think there should be “disable umts/3g switch”.
sort of yes. elisa finland offers standalone mode, but i don’t have a plan at a moment. telia finland has a capability but no consumer plans. i don’t know dna, which is owned by telenor.
forcing sa-mode is not important in near term, but useful in the future, maybe next year.
