Active/passive PoE on RUT951

We use the RUT951 in our product. Currently our product has an output with passive PoE built into it.

I was looking at the manual here:

It says that from batch 35, passive PoE isn’t possible.

What does this mean? What will happen if we apply 12V or 24V passive PoE to a batch 35+ RUT951?

I contacted our supplier, he said that this will damage the RUT951.

Right now it looks like we will have to look at the batch numbers on units we order, and from the point that we receive batch 35, we will have to change the design of our product to do active PoE. From that point on, all our old products will only be compatible with old RUTs, and new products only with new RUTs, and we will no longer be able to provide spare parts for the old units.

Alternativaly, can someone recommend a passive to active PoE converter, preferably IP67?

Good afternoon,

Devices from the first batch from this product code RUT9511* product code**, do not support passive PoE, as a module with active PoE was installed, which does not have passive PoE capabilities.

I cannot advise in regards from which batch this functionality was started, however I can advise that this product code will not have pasive PoE capabilities. You can find the product code of the device in Status → Overview.

Hi,

So I need to power the device to find out how I need to power the device?

Hi there,

Devices with provided product code do not support passive Poe, therefore you cannot utilize that functionality with those devices. Devices with a different product code, will have the module, and the functionality can be utilized.
