Activating guest wifi disables all wifis

Hey

I have a RUTX50, and I am in general very happy about it. That said I have some issues when trying to setup a guest wifi. The main wifi runs on ‘lan’ and on both 2.4ghz and 5ghz. It works great, and both MacBooks as well as Android based phones can connect to it.

I’ve created a guest wifi as well and I have tried to follow the guide at
https://wiki.teltonika-networks.com/view/How_to_set_up_a_guest_WiFi_network

And to stress - I’ve made sure, that the guest wifi does not use the ‘lan’ but instead a newly created ‘lan_guest’.

But when I enable the guest wifi, then all wifis die. I can wait for 2, 10 or 30 minutes, but no wifis are discoverable anymore. I’ve tried to unhook the router from power and wait some minutes and hook up again - but same story: Wifis don’t seem to be broadcasted anymore.

My only solution is then to make a factory reset and then upload a backup of my settings to the router.

Any suggestions here?

Thanks in advance!

Hello,

Thank you for reaching out!

Could you confirm which RutOS firmware version you are using? If it’s an older version, please ensure that you upgrade to the latest 7.13.1 release.

I’ve tested the Guest WiFi setup on my end with RUTX50 (running 7.13.1) and couldn’t replicate any similar behavior where enabling a guest WiFi disconnects the default APs.

To investigate further, could you provide:

  • Screenshots of your Wireless & Guest WiFi LAN settings;
  • Logs from System → Maintenance → Troubleshoot page System Log – Show section.

Looking forward to your response.

Best regards,

Hey

So I just tried again enabling my guest wifi, and immediately all wifis are shut down, and even though I want 10-15 mins, they’re never back on. As I don’t have any physical cable connection, then this means, that I have to do a full reset of the router and upload my backup file = no log files to show.

What do you exactly need screenshots of? I’ve attached from the general setup of both wifis. Have in mind that I have ealier tried to create a custom LAN for the guest wifi, but this makes no difference.

Thanks!

Really no reply? :frowning:
