Hi,
I would like to ask about 802.11s support in Teltonika products.
I have seen many devices supporting 802.11s but doesnt find 802.11s support specified for RUT956. However I reach the webpage, Wireless Mesh configuration example - Teltonika Networks Wiki, which is using RUT956 as an example to setup 802.11s mesh network. I would like to know if RUT956 supports 802.11s protocol.
Besides, I am interested in setup a high resilient mesh network using two RUTX50 and several RUTX10. I saw the mesh setup described in the page above. Would it be ok to adopt VRRP with 802.11s to setup a resilient mesh network. In which, two RUTX50 would use VRRP as the mesh network gateway redundancy and RUTX50 and RUTX 10 to form a 802.11s mesh network.
Other than that, I also would like to know if I could purchase or get testing samples here in Taiwan. Thank you.
Regards,
Michael
Hello,
In brief, yes, the RUT956 does support the 802.11s mesh standard and can be used for extending a wireless mesh network on the 2.4 GHz band, as described in the configuration example provided on the wiki page.
Additionally, your proposed setup of creating a mesh network alongside VRRP on the RUTX50 devices for gateway redundancy should be a possible and reliable approach. You can find VRRP configuration example here:
Regarding hardware availability in Taiwan, you can purchase testing units through local distributors. If no distributor is available in your region, you’re welcome to reach out via the Contact Us form, and our sales team will assist you further.
If you have any additional questions, feel free to reach out.
Best regards,
Hi Marty,
Thanks for the fast response. It is great to learn that RUT956 supports 802.11s and VRRP.
I would check with local dealer for RUT956 (which is Taiwan NCC approved) to evaluate my proposal and would like to learn if RUTX series (we would like to use WiFi 5 and 5G connectivity) could be NCC approved.
Regards,
Michael
