Hello everyone, I’m looking for a solution as a fiber optic replacement. I am about 1km away from 4G+ mobile internet cell towers. I will get the maximum speed and performance. I would like to mount the antenna outside of the house. What kind of modem/router do you suggest and what kind of antenna? Does it make sense to take an EPNT-4 ANTENNA? Should the router be in the antenna or should it stay in the house? Should I use the same antenna for WIFI or should I better set up the WIFI with access points from Unifi? I would be happy to hear your opinion. Thanks
Hi…
Using RUTX(11/12/50), you will have two LTE at same time and a WAN (RJ45)…
but… the LTE speed, maybe it will not the same speed that you get, when using fiber.
LTE External antennas, always will be better solution and help to get strong signal.
I don’t know " EPNT-4 ANTENNA ", but google it and I can see it is nice!!
About WiFi… your house is too big?
Maybe a few access point around your house will be better for coverage.
Of course when you want to mount the antenna outside you need to consider that the cable to the antenna has losses. It could be more efficient to use a device that can be mounted outside, but then of course the indoor WiFi coverage will suffer.
When you are on an unlimited budget indeed it would be better to have a separate indoor WiFi solution like UniFi and/or an outdoor 4G/5G device like ZyXEL FWA710.
