TSW202 - GUI Unavailable - Device Hang

I might get a Netgear or Planet as well if it isn’t fixed in the near future.

I too am having these same issues with several fielded TSW202 and TSW212 switches. Unfortunately, these are all in VERY remote areas that mostly require helicopter access. Any updates are resolution to this? I have a troubleshoot file from one of the switches I was able to regain access to.

Hello @epoch70 @ftodino @xmtbiker,

We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this issue may have caused. Unfortunately, at this time, we do not have a fix available. Devices experiencing this issue will need to be sent for RMA (for repair). For assistance, please contact your reseller.

We truly appreciate your understanding and patience in this matter.

Best regards,

Hello @xmtbiker ,

If possible, could you please send me a troubleshoot file of your device? I have sent you a form to fill out, once completed I will contact you privately. For ticket ID please use “9977-3”.

Best regards,

Has anyone updated to 1.04.1 and tried the switches again to see if the problem is fixed?

I have not been able to get onsite to any of my sites and I am uncomfortable updating firmware remotely since it has caused other disconnect issues in the past. I have a troubleshoot file sent in to Teltonika right after the last time it happened with no response yet. I have two switches in this “locked up” mode right now… Do you know if anything was mentioned in the firmware update regarding this? I will check now.

Any updates on this ticket? I have two switches in this state and would like a fix. I have SSH access if there is anything I can pull from the device to help send your way…?

Hello,

Some clients were supposed to send us devices experiencing this issue for analysis. As far as I know, we still haven’t received them. Unfortunately, I don’t have any updates at the moment. Once our developers receive and test the devices, I will get back to you.

Thank you for your patience.

Best regards,

The last I was told in this thread, was send them back to your reseller for replacement as they are “faulty”.

I haven’t got around to doing that yet as we replaced them all with Netgear in the field.

I once again have another 4 switches in this state. It appears that they enter this state after a month or so of operation. I must have gotten the “faulty” batch! I included the original troubleshooting file to Teltonika but I never got confirmation that it was received. I have not been able to retrieve the switches from the fielded locations due to the costs associated with traveling via helicopter to them and the fact the switches are still functioning. BUT, all management and monitoring has been lost without HTTP, SSH, and SNMP functioning at this time. My company is attempting to make another 40 piece purchase of these switches and I have requested they hold off until this issue is resolved or we find another vendor. Please let me know the status and what more I can send your way documentation wise. I do occasionally maintain SSH access to the switch during these periods.

There was an update a few days ago with this line in the release notes which looks quite relevant:

  • Network: fixed switching off all ports after recovery from packets flood

Unfortunately I’ve already bought a replacement device from Planet.

Thank @epoch70 for spotting this.

I still have a few devices kicking around I can try this on.

Tino

I also haven’t installed the replacement Planet device yet, so might as well keep the TSW202 in service a bit longer to see if the update fixes it. The issue usually shows up several times a week, sometimes even multiple times a day. I updated mine yesterday.

Hello @ftodino,

Could you please confirm if you still have a TSW202 experiencing this issue? Also, does the issue occur with the latest firmware?

Best regards,

Hi Marija.

We don’t have any of these devices left in the field to adequately test them with this new firmware yet. However we do have a test system that we do intend to put 2 of them into to try them out on this firmware, but there isn’t a timeline for that at the moment.

How has it got on since update please @epoch70 ?

So far so good, no problems in about 5 days. I don’t think I’ve seen it go without problems more than about 3-4 days so looks like it might be fixed.

Now I have a spare Planet switch that was about 50% more expensive than TSW202.

No problems after another week, so looks to be fixed.

Hello @epoch70,

Glad to hear that the issue is resolved!

Please don’t hesitate to reach out if you need further assistance.

Best regards,
