Trigger download of tachograph DDD file via GPRS command

We use Teltonika FMC650 devices on board our vehicles. We currently get live tachograph data and are looking to add remote DDD file downloads. We’re planning to use Web Tacho to do this and already have a card host set up.

However, we are trying to find the right triggers to ensure we can download all our driver cards – we have many drivers per vehicle.

Our understanding is that it is possible to set up a trigger so that a driver card is downloaded after it is inserted. This is important to us since sometimes driver swaps happen mid-route – an ignition based trigger would miss the drivers that took over half way through since the ignition is not switched off during the swap.

However, this misses anyway to get a final download at the end of a drive from a driver who will not be driving for us again for many weeks (e.g. they are going on holiday).

Is there any way to trigger an ad hoc download via a GPRS command to the FMC 650? My understanding is that there is a command “tacho_connect” which will trigger the FMC 650 to connect to Web Tacho but I think it will only trigger a download if there is a scheduled download pending there. We are trying to avoid the need to create a one-off scheduled download in addition to sending the GPRS command at the end of a shift.

Hi,

Good day, please kindly look into this wiki page: WEB Tacho Drivers Cards - Teltonika Telematics Wiki

WEB Tacho with “Drivers Cards” functionality enables FMX640 devices to download each Driver Card data every time a different Driver Card is inserted into the tachograph.

Note:

  • Driver Card Data Retention
Driver cards now save the last 28 days of information. This gives you up to one month to download the driver card data.

  • Triggering Tacho_Connect
For a driver card inserted for the first time, you can detect the card change via live data.
To force a tacho_connect operation, send a Codec 12 command from the server.
    New Driver Card Process

  • The newly inserted driver card will be added to the driver cards list.

  • A schedule will be created for the card, placing it in a “pending” state.
If the card has not been downloaded before, it will automatically be downloaded during the next scheduled session.

For additional information, please contact your sales manager or create an HD ticket.

Best Regards

Thanks. That’s useful, although it doesn’t help with triggering a download at the end of a drive except perhaps if the driver could remove their card and then reinsert it to trigger another download.
