Hello,
I have a FMC880 which in deep sleep mode will report the last known position every hour whenever I am in an underground parking with no GNSS signal. However, the FTM880 (running latest firmware 3.0.10) is not behaving the same, it is reporting coordinates 0, 0 whenever it is in deep sleep mode in an underground parking with no GNSS signal.
Is it possible to configure the FTM880 to behave like the FMC880?
Thank you,
Joe
Good day,
Based on the condition you mentioned, it is most probably due to the device being rebooted. The device will keep sending last known position if there is no GNSS signal. However, if the device being rebooted, the device will send coordinate 0,0 (Wiki Link).
To improve this you may :
-
Set Record Mode to “Always”
By default, some devices may stop sending data or report 0, 0 coordinates if they cannot get a GNSS fix. To force the device to keep sending the last known location:
-
Go to System → Records Settings.
-
Change Saving/sending mode (or “Records Saving/Sending Without TS”) to Always.
-
Result: When GNSS is lost (e.g., in a garage), the device will continue to send records where the Latitude and Longitude fields contain the last valid coordinates it successfully recorded before losing signal.
-
Enable NTP to Prevent “Time Sync” Reboots
If the device is configured to only send after a time sync and cannot find satellites, it may hang or eventually reboot while trying to synchronize its internal clock.
-
Go to System → Time Synchronization.
-
Set the Synchronization source to NITZ and NTP or just NTP.
-
Result: If GNSS is unavailable, the device will sync its clock via the cellular network (NITZ) or the internet (NTP). This satisfies the “time sync” requirement, allowing the device to remain stable and continue sending those last known coordinates without rebooting.

Thank you for your response.
However, the issue does not appear to be related to time sync since the device is sending the correct time when it’s reporting 0,0 position.
Based on further investigation and testing, the FTM880 losses the last known valid position once sleep time out is reached and GNSS is turned off.
The scenario is as such:
FTM880 navigates to underground parking with no GNSS signal and car is turned off (ignition off)
Sleep timer is set to 120 minutes, during the 120 minutes with no GNSS fix, FTM880 continues to report the last known valid position every hour
Once 120 minutes time out for power saving is reached, FTM880 goes into sleep mode, GNSS status changes to off and last known position is lost and as from this moment, FTM880 starts reporting 0,0 as last coordinates.
Could you please review this further?
Thank you,
Joe
