TeltoCharge EVC2 - ABB D13 Modbus RS-485 Meter Not Detected

Hello Teltonika Support Team,

I am having trouble connecting an energy meter to my Teltonika TeltoCharge (EVC2) for Dynamic Load Management (DLM).

TeltoCharge Charger Details:

Device Name: EVC2-162106
Model: EVC2001100S0
Serial Number: 1159162106
HW Revision: 000

Energy Meter Details:

Model: ABB D13 15-M 65 Modbus
Serial Number: 25381257

Current setup and configuration:

Modbus Settings: Address 1, Baudrate 9600, Parity Even (verified on the meter display;).

Physical Wiring & Cable Integrity: Connected to the METER terminal block (METER A, METER B, METER GND). Termination DIP switch for METER is set to ON. We have fully tested and verified the continuity of the cable, and the wiring is completely undamaged.

Search Issue: When trying to add the meter in the Teltonika Energy App, the charger runs the meter search (both standard and extended search), but it continuously fails to find/detect the ABB D13 meter on the bus.

Could you please advise why the charger cannot discover the ABB D13 meter on the Modbus line and how to resolve this issue?

Thanks for advice

Hello,

Thank you for providing the detailed information regarding your installation.

After reviewing the setup, the Modbus communication parameters you have configured (Address 1, Baud Rate 9600, Even Parity) are consistent with the recommended settings for communication between the charger and an external energy meter.

However, based on the current Teltonika Energy Wiki documentation, the ABB D13 15-M 65 Modbus meter is not listed among the officially supported smart energy meters for the EVC2 charger. While the meter itself supports Modbus RTU communication, EVC2 can only automatically detect and communicate with meters that have been integrated and validated by Teltonika Energy.

For this reason, the charger may be unable to discover the meter during either the standard or extended search process, even when the wiring and communication settings are correct.

As a troubleshooting step, we recommend verifying the meter’s Modbus communication using a third-party Modbus master tool. If the meter responds correctly on the RS485 bus but the charger still cannot detect it, this would indicate a compatibility limitation rather than a wiring or communication fault.

At this time, we recommend using one of the officially supported smart energy meters listed in the Teltonika Energy documentation. https://wiki.teltonika-energy.com/view/EnergyMeter_FAQ Alternatively, if compatibility with the ABB D13 series is required, we can forward your inquiry internally to confirm whether support for this meter is planned in a future firmware release.

Kindest regards,
Džiugas-Teltonika

Hello Dziugas,

Thank you very much for the prompt and detailed response.

Since the ABB D series has replaced the older B series, could you please forward my inquiry internally to check if support for the ABB D series is planned in a future firmware update?

If support is planned, is there any estimated timeline for when it might be available?

Thank you again for your assistance.

Best regards,
