TAT240 doesnt send SMS

It is now my third day of trying to set up the TAT240, and I am beyond frustrated.

Main issue: I am not receiving SMS coordinates on my phone. I am not using a server; I only want to receive SMS data directly to my mobile device.

I have configured Scheduled Tracking with specific days and times. I can see the GNSS module waking up, acquiring data (getting a fix), and then immediately going back to sleep without sending anything.

According to the Teltonika Wiki, I/O elements are optional. It states that even without an enabled I/O element, the AVL packet should still contain GNSS information. In reality, I receive nothing at all.

My questions:

What exactly do I need to do to receive raw coordinates according to my schedule via SMS?

Do I need to create a specific “Event”? If so, how? The Configurator only offers “None” and “Low” priority options for these parameters, which doesn’t seem to trigger an SMS.

Please advise on how to resolve this.

Configuring the Teltonika TAT240 to send data via SMS involves setting up SMS data sending in the GPRS settings and configuring the authorized phone numbers to receive these messages. This approach, often used to save power, avoids opening GPRS data context for server reporting.

1. Initial Setup and Configuration

  • Install Configurator: Download and install the latest Teltonika Configurator software on a Windows computer.

  • Connect Device: Connect the TAT240 to the computer using a Micro-USB cable.

  • Insert SIM Card: Ensure a SIM card with SMS functionality enabled is inserted.

2. Configure SMS Record Sending

In the GPRS Settings > Record Sending Setting section of the configurator:

  • Send records through SMS: Enable this feature.

  • Send SMS to: Configure phone number that the device will be sending SMS. The number must be set at GSM Predefined Numbers (in SMS \ Call Settings).

Thanks for quick response, but it doesnt help.

As I said, I already have tried basic things - SIM works, APN works, I receive SMS, BUT only when I attach TAT to usb.

As I understand, I need event (with value PANIC), which push my sms thru and here I need help.

UPDATE -

I gave up to SMS and install flespi.

Even with that, I don’t receive scheduled reports to flespi without I/O.

For test I activated battery status with “on change", FINALLY RECEIVE REPORTS, but that is not a sustained long term solution.

This in not normal situation for me, Teltonika support, make solution.

Thank you for your feedback.

Please test with enabling the “First Power On record”. By this, you should receive SMS on first wake up of the device. Please ensure and test if the SIM inserted on the device capable to send SMS by sending test SMS via other device (eg. from mobile phone)
