TAT100 battery voltage

Dear All,

I’m using the TAT100 hardware version 31 for some fun project.
Since the required batteries are a bit hard to obtain I have modified it to use two 14500 3.7 batteries using a cheap plastic battery holder. The question is, is it safe to run TAT100 on 10.8 Volts, as three 14500 size LiSOCl2 batteries would also fit the enclosure?
Thank you!
Wojtek

Hello,

Thank you for prompt reply. As I mentioned, I already did the battery modification, please see the attached photos. Everything works great. I’m using the modified TAT100 to track my horse, and I would definitely benefit from longer battery life. Somewhere on the teltonika web pages there was a mention of TAT100 with the 3 cell battery, so my only question is if the hardware I own will be safe to power by 10.8 V, or the 3 cell TAT100 is a different HW version.

Have a great day!

Hello,

As per our datasheet, we do recommend using only 7.2V battery .
If you use more than 7.2 V it can be dangerous for the device.

OK, I will stick to two cells only. Thank you very much!
Have a great weekend!
