Switches to 1-phase charging and not going back to 3-phase

Hi,

lately when I’m charging slowly at low current 5-6A (3phase), charger after some time switches to 1-phase, and never going back to 3. This makes charging 3 times slower, although loads of current available to a charger.

anything changed? I’m running latest fw. Car: Tesla 3 2022 rwd

best
Rado.

Hello xrado,

If 2 minutes the EV charges in single phase, it would force change from 3 phase charging to single phase charging for the whole duration of the session, meaning that it would choose the least loaded phase and provide most amps available

Once this switch to single-phase charging happens, it stays that way for the entire duration of the charging session. This means the charger doesn’t switch back to three-phase charging until the car is disconnected.

Ok I see the spike in consumption that could cause this. But this strategy is not good I think.
Because of one short consumption spike, car will not be charged to desired % in time.
Usually I set slow charging to get car to desired level just in time I need it.
How would you feel if your car in the morning is at 45% instead of 85%.
Charger should try to switch back to 3 phase if possible or at least notify user to do it manually.
Currently I have to restart the charger and start charging again to get it back to 3 phase.

Hello xrado,

Can you contact me via mail ?

@FurkanAkinci.32 thanks for quick response, will test the hotfix and let you know if works

Ur welcome

I’m experiencing the same issue with the BMW IX 40: after the latest app and firmware updates, the charger in Eco mode (also in ECO+ mode) switches to 1-phase after some time. The only way to resume 3-phase charging is to reboot the charger, but the problem reoccurs after a while.
How can I fix it?

@xrado any feedback?

Not yet, I don’t use the car much this days so not ready to change. In a day or two, let you know.

@FurkanAkinci.32 It seems to be working

I simulated consumption spike by turning on the oven and toaster, which reached max (20A) on one of the phases. Charger switched to 1-phase charging. After turning the oven and toaster off, maybe a minute after, charging stopped and switched back to 3 phase. Great! Thanks
