RV GNSS GSM alarm tracker, immobilizer, Heater remote

Hi guys,

a bit new to GNSS trackers an Teltonika, but it feels as I could make an exellent Car Tracker (in Theft case), immobilizer and additional switching “aux” Channel for a diesel heater in a Van with FMM130 or FMB930 for Example.

It seems that several LTE 4G / M1 devices of Teltonika can do the job, but I am not sure about setting it up: I learned that the APN stuff comes from the provider, but I also need a “Server” address forwarding messages to and from my phone to or from the tracker. Is this also provided by the Cellular Network access provider?
Can you help me out, what to input in the Server field?

Regarding the Switching:
Would both of the FMB devices above receive SMS or calls (…or another route) to cut of the Fuel Supply via DOUT1 and to switch on DOUT2 to control a diesel Heater (which is autoterm retrofit and has a remote starter possibility by shorting 2 wires)…

Thanks a lot for helping out…

Would a potenital free portal like www.GPS-Server.com work here?

They do supply a webserver for SMS forwarding obviously, at presumably no cost…
They do support FMM130 on Port 11922.

I can hardly believe that this service is totally free, there has got to be a catch. Do they use the GPS/Fleet data somehow?

With this setting I would be encouraged to try and experiment with the FMM130 device, (this 4G for future, unfortunately the smaller FMC930 with 2 outputs is just 2G which will soon be switched off in Germany).
Also the FMM offers CAN connectivity with an external CAN Adapter…for later if I ever use it, as my Van does not output too much and formost no Immobilizer possibility via CAN…

Hi @PepeGPS

Good day, to test the device please follow this wiki page: Universal Device Test Guide - Wiki Knowledge Base | Teltonika GPS

I am not familiar with the free GPS platform that you have shared, but you can try to create a free demo account from flespi : www.flespi.io

To check for more information please visit our wiki page and YT channel:

Thanks Maynard,

I tried to read as much as possible over the weekend (23/24.11.24) but unfortunately here the Teltonika servers were down. Youtube helped
Continue wit hreading today.

The Device Test Startup guide was mostly knonw but the List of plattforms is very useful and new to me:
https://wiki.teltonika-gps.com/view/Fleet_Management_platforms
GPS-Server is listed there too.

Will try Flespi.io.
I don’t care so much about running cost /y or /m as long as it is affordable (private use) and reliable.

Regarding Network recommendations (Maybe philosophical):
Is it recommended to go LTE Cat M1 for anti-theft immobilizer/remote control applications in Europe nowadays (11/24) or should LTE 4G be targeted due to better support and potential wider coverage going worldwide?
Can LTE Cat M1 devices fallback to LTE4G networks if LTE M1 is not available?

Some more questions:

  • Triggering DOUTs with calls from known number is possible? It is a bit flimsy to type and use SMS for repetitive tasks like Switching ON/OFF diesel heaters. This should avoid SMS cost.

  • Is it possible to exhange the LiPo Battery against a larger capacity type of the same kind (liek from other FMx devices)? I’d like to maximise the operating time under “battery disconnected” conditions…

Thanks
