What internal modem firmware version do you have? Same as mine?
Hello,
@oscalot
The logs are full of hostapd - wlan logs. This is related to wireless WiFi and not to mobile connection. Maybe you have more logs to share?
Would it be possible for you to provide a bit more information? For example, you mentioned that the router is three years old. Was it working fine before that? Did the issues start to occur only now?
Do you have any configurations on the device related to mobile? Maybe you have failover / SIM switch configured, or data limits?
Could you please provide some system logs from System → Adminsitration → Troubleshoot → ‘View’ system logs? Also, some screenshots from Status → Overview and Status → Network → Mobile. Before sharing this information, make sure to blur/hide any sensitive information, such as IMEI, IMSI, etc.
Kind Regards,
My Modem Firmware is EC25ECGAR06A09M1G_01.001.01.001
Router is monitored on https://rms.teltonika-networks.com - can you access and look the logs yourself?
If yes, which information you need?
Hello,
If you would like us to take a look at your device through the RMS, we would need some additional information about you, including information about your RMS account. Due to public nature of this forum, it is not possible for us to communicate privately (or share files, such as troubleshoot files). You would need to contact your designated sales manager or reseller from whom you purchased the device. If this is not feasible, you can fill in the ‘contact us’ form here. This way, there will be a way for us to exchange information and the team will be able to look into the issue.
Kind Regards,
Hello, these logs show short intervals between “connected” and “disconnected”. Normally these are stuck in “disconnected” until I reboot the router. I will see if there are other logs and post them…

Hello,
The device shows that it mobile connection and was trying to reconnect. It was able to reconnect in under 1.5 minutes. Are those disconnects always this short?
You mentioned that there are issues with the tower, maybe this is related to this?
As mentioned previously, it is possible that updating the modem’s firmware will help, so you can try that.
Kind Regards,
I think we confirmed the suspicion of it being the internal modem!
the above examples showed how the internal modem disconnected and then reconnected itself.
However, in these examples, it could not manage to reconnect itself, this time lasting for a few hours.
after a manual reboot, it connected successfully.
I think it is safe to say it is the internal modem firmware?
Now the big question: if I follow the upgrade directions as per the site link you sent, and the modem goes faulty permanently, that becomes my problem at my cost, correct?
What if the technical staff of the Teltonika distributor in South Africa conduct the upgrade and it goes faulty, who pays?
according to the link, I understood there is a higher chance of it failing during an internal modem firmware upgrade, than a normal firmware upgrade, is this correct?
Anyways, it has taken a while to get this to reflect clearly in the logs and I am happy we have this now…
Hello,
Apologies for a delayed response.
As mentioned, it is hard to say what is the exact cause of these disconnections as logs indicate a lost connection and the reconnection. It may or may not be related to modem’s firmware. I would suggest the following:
Try a completely clean firmware install by following the bootloader procedure outlined here. Then, for the testing purposes, configure only the configurations necessary for mobile connectivity, such as APN and PIN number. Do not configure any SIM switching, failover, data limits, etc.
If the signal quality is good according to the recommendations here, and the issue continues, then, assuming the device is still under warranty, I suggest you try updating the modem’s firmware on one of the devices. If followed correctly, the chance of corrupting the modem is very low. However, if it happens, I would suggest you reach out to your designated sales manager or the reseller to initiate an RMA procedure.
Kind Regards,
