Reduced charging power

Hello. After half year of use, during cold weather now teltonika charging station does not charge more than 2-3kw, all 6 leds slowly waving from purple to no color and back. Cycle from color to color happens in 2-3 seconds. What could be the reason?

Hello,

Could you download data log file from the EVC and send this to us? You can send it to our support email: support.energy@teltonika.lt . We would need to see grid parameters and internal actions of EVC to be able to answer correctly.

Sincerely,

Dominic

That was dynamic load balancing issue, sorry for false alarm.

Anyway, I am curious now how does a smart EVSE (EVC111) handle dynamic load balancing in a three-phase setup (9kW total limit) when the household load is heavily unbalanced? Specifically, if L1 and L2 are each drawing 3kW while L3 is idle, will the charger restrict itself to a single-phase charge on L3, or can it distribute the remaining capacity across all three phases?

Good morning,

For dynamic load balancing I would recommend to checkout EVC1 wiki DLB page: https://wiki.teltonika-energy.com/view/Dynamic_Load_Balancing But the idea is that if you have 3phase grid in your house and if you have some load going from other working devices and EVC station detects that there less then 6A on L1 or L2 EVC will switch from 3phase to 1phase charging. It will basically charge only one phase. For 3phase charging you need to have at least 6A on each phase. 6A is the minimum amount require to charge EV, because it’s industry standard from EVs manufacturers. Without minimum amount EVs wont take charge at all.
